The Information Superhighway

In this day and age, it is far to easy to get caught up in the ferocious speed with which we are bombarded with information, much of which is made obsolete the next moment.  The depth and breadth are staggering and human physiology was not meant to handle the pace of modern life.  Evolution and human development happen at a tortoise pace.  Consider the parts of the body which may have once been necessary but at present seem to serve little or no function. These include your appendix, tonsils, and body hair (fur). So how does one embrace a full, joyous, and rewarding life, rather than just exist in the high paced stressful environment of today’s world? As humans, we have a choice to allow ourselves to be victimized by these external circumstances or to be proactive on our own behalf.

Some of the steps we can take to improve our positive participation in living may sound simple and obvious, but they are not; they require a conscious intention to question entrenched responses and consistent practice of alternatives.  We have the capacity to live a joyous and rewarding life rather than just exist in the high-paced, stressful environment of today’s world. Slowing down gives us the opportunity to live more fully in the present moment, deepening our awareness of ourselves, others, our surroundings, and the events which are occurring RIGHT NOW.
